WWNF Project Description
This project proposes to obliterate and replace the 7787-620 to the junction of the 7787-600 road. Three culverts along this piece of road are undersized and limit fish passage, these culverts will be removed with the road obliteration. This road will be reconstructed upland of Corral Creek and 3 culverts replaced.
Corral Creek along the 7787-600 road, South Fork Catherine Creek, and Pole Creek
This project replaces 3 culverts and decommissions .6 miles of road from the upper end of the previously closed south fork catherine creek road up towards the Sand Pass Trailhead. The road following Corral Creek from south catherine creek will also be decommissioned. A new road will be built to go bypass the road section they plan to decommission. This road work is being done to get the road away from South Catherine and Corral Creek.
The Environmental Assessment has been released. The project has changed from the original documents. No mention of decommissioning roads. Closed road sections will be reopened, contoured and obliterated. A portion of 7700600 and 7700602 near corral creek/ pole creek will be moved away from the streams it borders. Initial impressions are that roads 7700621 and 623 will be inaccessible after this project is complete due to culvert removal without installing any means to cross corral creek.
