Proposal to use low intensity prescribed fire to improve elk forage in open grasslands and grass/forb/shrub understories in historical elk transition and summer range in the Chesnimnus Watershed.

The project area is approximately 30 miles northeast of Enterprise, Oregon.
Project Description and map.
This project will use prescriptive burning to eliminate small conifer trees and brush in order to improve elk foraging on 5000 acres of a 12,000 acre project area. This project does not address road closures, access restrictions or fire wood cutting. Wallowa Resources surveys will be used to assess the success of this project after completion.
